149.Caerphilly Castle & Mynydd Meio (12 miles)

 8/10

Parking @ Caerphilly CF832RB

As Wales in the semi finals of the Euro decided to go to Wales this week and Starting in Caerphilly we soon leave the busy town behind to follow the Rhymney Railway and very peaceful it was too .

With the odd reminder of the past.

The main reason for the walk was Andy in picture Granny used to live here in Abertridwr, Once a lively Coal mining area with almost 3000 miners here. now none . (sorry for picture Andy ! : )

This is where the pit used to stand.

Senghenydd in the Aber Valley

Plenty of bird life about Barn Swallows, lots of Meadow Pipits and Skylarks.

Senghenydd

Short break here but what a view !

A Stunning day blue skies or how it should be for July !

University of South Wales, just to the right of plylons

Another Country ! England, Bristol Channel and Steepholme

This chap gave me a heart attack, while eating lunch creped up and us ! Looks good though.

Separate from his buddies who were taking it easy !

Some lovely Clouds here and the Summit of Mynydd Meio standing at 322 meters or 1056 ft

Crook Peak just right of center .

Coming down off of Mynydd, Mountain, Caerphilly ahead.

Caerphilly Castle spotted after a few minutes of looking !

Just because i've put one in of Andy here's me ! I'am a bit taller !

Lifting a piece of tin found a frog plus a Shrew !

Why ???????
Surely a cracking property with a view towards Caerphilly castle !

Next on to Northern section of the Pontypridd, Caerphilly and Newport Railway or was, the cycleway cost £42000 to lay !

Gps errors eventually led us to Caerphilly Castle. Built in the 13th century.

The Leaning Tower of Pisa has long been recognised by the Guinness Book of World Records as the most lop-sided building in the world. But come on This must be more ?!

The Welsh Dragon Stands Guard over the Castle.

As we leave behind the castle and Wales hopes of winning the Euro 2016 ,they lost 2-0 to Portugal ! A great walk with no real points to mark down so a fairly high scoring 8/10 ,shame that wasn't the score to Wales !!
Until the next one Cheers for now.

Thanks for looking
